At the age of 21, Luz found herself managing Clinical Pathology at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Progressive opportunities presented at Boston Medical Center, University of Illinois and other prestigious hospitals in the Northeast. Her experience in IT, Revenue Cycle, Risk and Safety, Ambulatory Care, Diagnostis Imaging, Bariatric Center and other specialties, collectively amplified her expertise in business strategy, business partnerships and a working knowledge in morphing an organization to adjust to the ever sweeping changes in healthcare. Luz eventually found herself working in the C-suite in Chicago.
Luz went on a sabbatical to care for a family member and re-established herself in New England, taking on consultancy at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Accolades include: "Most effective writer among a class of 120 students ", noted by Dr. V. Howard , Philosophy of Education, Harvard, and recognitions by academic hospitals for her rigorous , steadfast leadership. Of note is a footprint she left with a proprietary software, CMS, utilized by Mammography nationwide . She spoke in Washington, D.C on manipulating the algorithm as a solution to meet federal standards required by the MQSA - one that significantly helped the developers of the software.
Luz periodically appears as a guest reviewer for Becker's Hospital Review.
Luz currently works as a contractor in Boston, Massachusetts.
"Having control over my own schedule is a bonus and a blessing for it was during planned lulls in the backdrop of a pandemic that I discovered a cathartic experience in painting and photography", said Luz.
Luz seeks refuge in her creations when not reading or gardening during downtime; but her loyalty and dedication, first and foremost is to her family.
